In fact community efforts towards building of these playgrounds have become a common thing as parents realize the need for their kids' safety. It is easier to put up a set of equipment as a result of general contribution by a substantial number of people in a community or neighborhood.

If you are a parent or the owner or part of a community where there is some playground for the children, you need to know how safe the playground is. This is why this article is geared towards determining how safe your playground is for both your children and - if it a community effort - your neighbors' kids.

So, what are the things you need to put in place to see if that playground is safe?

1. The space available for the installation and construction of the equipment.

This is very important since you don't want the kids hurting each other as result of their bumping constantly into each other. This is particularly common when is not enough space for the playground. For instance, if the space between the fort and swing isn't much, there is tendency that kids that done with the swing and going to the fort could bump into kids coming from the fort. This is likely to cause more injuries from accidents.

2. The floor of the playground has to be made of materials that are both tough and enduring without causing too much harm to kids that might falloff their play equipments. Thus, building the floor with hard materials like asphalt will increase the severity of any accidents that might occur. Instead try looking into materials such as rubber mulch.

3. The difference in playground equipments must be taken into consideration particularly when the ages of the children that will be using the playground vary. This is usually not obvious for first timers. But for the experienced, they know it is a must have. This is because equipment that will suit toddlers will not necessarily suit school age kids. So, a one-size-fits-all playground equipment is not recommended for all playgrounds.

4. The safety of a playground also depends on the proximity of a parent guardian or someone who can insure the safety in the playground. This is why it is necessary to have adults around when the kids are playing in the playground.
